What is the ACCOSAM Mentoring Program About?

The ACCOSAM Mentoring Program is designed to meet the needs of teenagers and young adults interested in Canadian education with the drive and passion to achieve academic and career excellence in their spheres of interest as well as Godly lifestyle and spiritual growth in their Christian Journey. Over the years, the wind of excessive freedom that civilization offers in Canada has caught up with many teenagers coming the country for western education, leading to backsliding in the Christian faith, academic and career underachievement. Through this ACCOSAM  programme, we mentor these young ones closely for academic success, career excellence and also follow them up concerning spiritual growth in their daily Christian walk as well as guide them from the scratch in gaining School admissions into appropriate Canadian academic institutions.

What other services provided by ACCOSAM apart from her Mentoring Program ?

How do I apply for the Mentoring Program?

Application window for ACCOSAM mentoring is continuous and a rolling basis. You can click and fill out the online application form through a right link on our website/webportal. Both student mentees and volunteers mentors apply online. Student mentee application is systematically regulated. Your application as a prospective volunteer mentor will then go through a screening process and successful applicants will be notified and created on the platform.

How long does the Mentoring Program Last?

The Mentoring Program spans for as long as individual mentees remain students in the good standing and mentors want continue to volunteer, all things being equal. To begin the program, mentors and mentees are required to go through into initial orientation training to prepare them for the mentoring relationship. In addition, this session will familiarize you with the ACCOSAM Mentoring Program, our processes and guidelines. Following the appropriate activation on the ACCOSAM, one-on-one interaction between mentors and mentees begins and you will be required to commit at least 3 times per month to your mentee/mentor over the period.

What is expected of me during the Program?

The Program is structured and mentees will be required to send in monthly reports, which will be monitored and evaluated.

Is there a fee attached to the Mentoring Program?

No fee payment for volunteer mentors but “Yes” for student mentees. There is a one-time fee  (subject to change) required to be paid as part of the student mentee membership online registration process before acceptance into the Mentoring Program and a token  annual membership renewal subscription fee .That of volunteer mentor is all FREE.

What does this student mentee membership fee cover?

The fee covers the registration program, commitment and administrative costs.

Are the Volunteer Mentors Paid?

Not really but may be given occasional allowances, valuable ACCOSAM annual certificate of service and references when needed. Being an ACCOSAM mentor is not a salaried job. Being a mentor gives you the chance to meet students from all over the world and get to know new friends. Being an international mentor is really fun and its reference also seen as a plus to your qualifications and experiences.

We empower mentees to choose whether they’re looking for a short-term or long-term mentorship. The expected commitment is 30-60 minutes per week. We want both mentors and mentees to decide how much help they want/can offer and to only commit to that level.
